Juanita Hagberg - Fine Artist
My goal is to 'push the envelope' of watercolor - in its pure form, and with mixed watermedia and collage. Using vivid colors, textural elements, and strong design, my paintings are 'loosely representational' to abstract. I take inspiration from my native California and coastal Washington. Land, sea, and natural organic forms are suggested in my work. Personal content is important to me, and I also invite the viewer's emotional response and interpretation.
My watercolors have been exhibited in juried shows in California, Washington, and Oregon, receiving several awards. The Muir Heritage Land Trust has selected my work to be presented to corporate and private donors. My art has been in 'Watercolor Magazine;' on the cover of the Bill 'Doc' Webster CD 'Jazz from the Tenderloin (S.F., CA) - Live at Les Joulins Jazz Bistro; 'Splash 11 - New Directions' published by Northlight Books and F + W Media; and my article 'The Unconventional Route' appears in the June 2011 issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine. My paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Europe.
My paintings may be seen at Gallery Concord, Concord, CA; Valley Art Gallery, Walnut Creek, CA; Karen's Kitchen & Gifts; Karla Matzke Fine Art Gallery, Camano Arts Association Studio Tour; Camano Island, WA; and juanitahagbergwatercolors.com
